Summary: Laughter and fun facilitator.
Personal statement: My background is in the field of the creative and therapeutic arts, having originally trained as a drama & movement therapist in the Sesame Method, a non-confrontational approach which incorporates drama, myth & story, sound, movement and play. I have worked extensively with adults and young people with learning disabilities and physical disabilities. I gravitated towards laughter work in 2004, probably because it appealed as an antidote to the analytical environment of therapy work and because I felt I needed more laughter in my own life - I'm still working on this last bit.
My work since training as a laughter facilitator has included tailor-made sessions with teachers and sixth form students and with organisations such as The Forestry Commission and Breast Cancer Care. I take inspiration from a variety of sources, including the Laughter Network, Dr Kataria's School of Laughter Yoga and The Happiness Project, but mostly from the knowledge that a good laugh can change the way we think and feel and how we interact with other people. And I think it's good to remember that fun and playfulness aren't just for kids!
